How the session is planned
Your session begins with a brief consultation where you and the practitioner identify areas of concern, pressure preferences, and any recent activities or injuries. Our therapists have years of training across modalities — deep tissue, myofacial, sports therapy, Swedish, shiatsu, Thai, craniosacral, energy balancing — and will outline a tailored approach before work begins.
During the massage the therapist combines techniques chosen for your goals, switching approaches when tissues respond or you request adjustments. This collaborative process suits commuters and active families from Columbia and nearby communities, allowing targeted attention to desk-, driving-, or activity-related tension without assuming a one-size-fits-all routine.
Techniques blended to fit
Practitioners weigh trade-offs when selecting tools: deep tissue can address deeper tightness but requires slower, focused strokes, while Swedish techniques promote circulation and broad relaxation. Myofacial and craniosacral work address connective tissue and subtle mobility, and Thai or shiatsu elements add stretching and pressure-point approaches when appropriate.
In a 90 MINUTES session there is ample time to balance whole-body relaxation with targeted problem-solving. Time is allocated by priority — common patterns like neck, shoulders, and low back receive focused attention while secondary areas are maintained. If you prefer a different emphasis, communicate it during intake and the therapist will adapt.
What to expect afterward
After the session clients often notice reduced stiffness and a clearer sense of which areas need follow-up work. Columbia’s commuter patterns and seasonal outdoor activities can contribute to muscle tension; you may feel mild soreness as tissues respond. Simple aftercare such as hydration, gentle stretching, and avoiding heavy exertion for a day can be helpful.
This Customized Massage (90 Minutes) is our most popular full-length offering because it lets therapists respond fully to complex needs rather than following a fixed routine. Expect ongoing check-ins during the treatment, and plan light activity afterwards so you can gauge how your body responds before resuming normal exertion.
